Without You, I'm Nothing

Without You, I'm Nothing

A Poem by Beautifully Tragic xPoetry Queen
"

Dedicated to my beloved poetry.

"

When my world was lonely,

You’d be there to set me free

Unchaining me from the bonds,

The wicked demons inside of me.

My hope was lost,

You restored my devotion,

A thoughtful symphony,

Of my soul’s every emotion.

My thoughts were so mangled,

Just words in my head

And you set the words free

For every tear I had to shed.

You were every hurtful past,

I tried to erase…

Every lifetime dream

I ever wanted to chase.

A blanket of black,

And you were gone in a flash

Setting fire to my heart,

Now all there is ash.

Without you, I am nothing

But a lonely soul, you see.

With sorrow in my broken heart

You were there to set me free.

On April 5th, 2008 - My laptop crashed with one click of a button, and my poetry was taken from me with a black screen in my face. It's kind of like how I felt after the Great Deletion, only most was restored. Now all that survives of my work is on WritersCafe, and it feels about a thousand times more painful.

I completely agree.

When the cafe crashed, I felt horrible. I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue but I did. Then one day, I misplaced my usb where I have MOST of my work. I went crazy. That usb is my life. Fortunately I found it, but I completely understand ...

"Without you, I am nothing
But a lonely soul, you see.
With sorrow in my broken heart
You were there to set me free."

... "it feels about a thousand times more painful."

May we, all have a moment of respectful silence for Rayne's late laptop. Rest In Peace, little 'puter.

Rayne, i know that this a very painful event for you, but you will survive. Providing you with new material for your poems that wouldn't been touch before. This may seem harsh to you, but sometimes life is that way. Personally, i think you're a very strong person than you give yourself credit for. In time, you'll grow even stronger. Thank you for sharing this very personal poem with us.

I feel the same way about my poetry, it is my voice when I can't speak. I am wondering, do most people write directly on the computer or do you write it out in pen/pencil first? If there were to be a crash of my computer or when there was the great deletion I had all my poems in written form. Just wondering?

I'm pretty sure your work could still be restored pretty easily, as long as you didn't format your hard drive, and even if you did it's still possible, though much more expensive.
But I do know how you feel - it happened to me once, and a large portion of my old work is still lost.

The piece is a great tribute, with great rhyming and flow, which truly shows that it came straight from the heart.

One thing I did notice is that the first too lines have a slight time inconsistency:
"When my world was lonely,
You'd be there to set me free"
You should consider changing the 2nd line to "You were there to set me free".

Aside from that it's really a great piece.
I'm sorry, and share your pain.
