Katauta, Sedoka, Tanka, Haiku and Senryu share a few traits but the cultural aspects have largely been neglected and degenerated in westernization. I enjoyed your offering here. I like reading a bit of translated Basho and the more modern, Tanikawa in the wider genre. Nicely done, F.

I like studying form writes, and trying my hand at writing them. Off and on I just write a regular poem. I never heard of a sedoka of Basho. Thank you so much for your review.

Basho is the first and greatest haiku poet. A Sedoka is just a pair of three line Katauta generally used as an exchange of dialogue. Most of the more popular Tanka writers are women. "Basho: The Complete Haiku" is a great study guide to the form. It's in my poetry library but I confess I've not read the entirety. So much poetry, so little time. :)
