INNOCENCE

INNOCENCE

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

Playful

"
Radiant aqua skies
and butterflies
roll down hills
and high fly thrills
water splash
giggles and laughs
sand castles
no hassles
jump puddles
teddy bear cuddles
Truly curious
at times furious
bundles of wonder
treasures under
smell the flowers
sense the showers
warm and dry
ready for cherry pie
mouth stuffed, no time to say goodbye

Here we go on a fine trip to the past, where things are good and wonder is nearly everywhere. Very glad you wrote this to remind us what used to be. And most of these things, often written as images, are still around; we just have to remember to look for them when able. The whole thing made me smile. Thanks!

Fun days of childhood. They seem so long ago and that cherry pie or apple pie that mum made. Delicious and mouth watering. Never could get enough of it. Thank you Betty for taking me on a nostalgia trip.

One of the things I miss the most about childhood is innocence.
This is cute.

thank you for your review, yes indeed!
On one hand, I was in a reverie, imagining what it would be like to be back in a youthful state of living. On another hand, I felt I was observing a child's innocence & being immersed in it. Last & not least, I feel we all need some practice getting back in touch with our buoyant inner child after a brutal year of hateful infighting & covid slaughter . . . that's why a poem like this can be a harbinger of more butterfly days to come (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

A recollection of childhood days here, and nicely rhymed. It seems that as we get older, we tend to idealize the times of early youth. Probably nothing wrong with that; current times can be really vexing, as they are now.

Seen from older eyes.
Children happy to be exploring and enjoying life
Too busy being happy - their day full with exploring
constantly seeking new adventures

Yes I liked it

Thanks so much for your review!
I picture an adult being spectator or even guardian to a child/children playing. That was the image in my head reading this poem. And I must say it's a breath of fresh air to read something and positive, or as you dubbed the poem yourself, about "Innocence." Most writings are angsty given what people are going through. Poems like this one speaks of simple beauties -- A simple, unadulterated picture.

Cheers to more beauty!

Welcome and thanks for your review!!
Okay Betty, I'm thinking you are somewhere hot, relaxing by the pool, piña colada by your side eating cherry pie without a care in the world. I remember those days, 2019 I think it was. They'll come back someday.
Thanks for reminding me.
