COLORFUL PSYCHE

COLORFUL PSYCHE

A Poem by Betty Hermelee

RED, BLUE YELLOW = moods

COLORFUL PSYCHE

My psyche appears to

mock the speed of a falling star

racing toward earth

I strain to classify my brain

in blocks of colors

red for confusion, clutter, calamity

blue for gloom, grief, grouchy

yellow for hope, hiatus, heal

At this moment my red chamber

displays its ugliest head

I toil to retrieve words

the creative ones

that will sanction me to quill a poem

When I speak about clutter

i mean to assert that I carry out too many tasks simultaneously

my red chamber detonates

my mind shuts

as I exhaust my neurons

Regardless, the blue hues are equally unsightly

as I stump, lumber along, alone in a void

pause, reckon that will lessen the gloom

Sometimes its weeks in the dusk

I long for my yellow veil to shroud me in calm

I stir to see a fracture of light

Which may imply that I am cleansed once more

of my red and blue dispositions

Perhaps I’ve learned a lesson

Interesting color coding here, B. I wonder why yellow comes out so positive. Red and blue, of course, make me think of politics. In that respect, I generally come across as purple.

Thanks John; if you're purple though, you're nether here nor there! Appreciate it.
Best, B
Excellent poem
Perhaps if you hadn't become involved in art with all its colors and instead had gone into re-roofing, this color thingy might have just passed you by.

Careful! Don't want to get grey. I really like the alliteration in this poem. Wish I read more of it. Would those tasks that clutter be poems? As the star speeds toward us, and you are busy collecting yourself, however will we stop the fall?
