WHITE CAPS

WHITE CAPS

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

it's safe to stay where you are, but dubious to adventure anew

"

WHITE CAPS

Teal blue ocean shrouds me with euphoria

your white caps lap over my corps with fervor

kiss my cheeks with salty foam

tickle my toes with bubbles

pervade my mind with ebullient energy

still, I am securely netted in someone else’s being

yet my obsession prevails with you, darling sea

I will rejoin you with fire when I catch an opening

Just returned from the western isles where I felt every bit of this lovely poem. I can still feel the wind through it.

Thank you Ken, much appreciated!!!

Ahh, the call of the sea. The waves, the beach and the putting on of oil, only for a slight gust to gently blow and turn you into a walking donut... I'd love the sea if it didn't insist on being near the beach! 😊

reminds me of the song "Brandy" by Looking Glass...
he sings, "Brandy you're a fine girl, what a good wife you would be, but my life, my love and my lady is the sea."
Really tickles my poetic toes here.

Hi, Betty,

One thing I notice about the construction of this poem: the first two lines are not in agreement with the next lines, meaning in the first two lines you are talking about the ocean then in the rest of the poem you are speaking to the ocean. Would it make more sense to also adress the ocean in the opening two lines?
Teal blue ocean you shroud me/your white caps.

Just suggesting,

Winston
