QUIRKY DREAMS

QUIRKY DREAMS

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

a new plan

"

QUIRKY DREAMS

A fine sleep, an assortment of dreams

mainly about my darling soldier

he is now in full recovery

hence, we are willing and able to dance

the waltz, gaze into each other’s eyes

as we sweep the floor in a gold leaf ballroom

with crystal chandeliers

in the wee hours we settle under cool

satin sheets veiled in each other’s arms

At once, my dream transitions to the gentleman

as we sit on a park bench, chat, and chuckle until we tire

in the aftermath of silence, I summon the courage

to impart that I must not engage with him further

he appears shocked, eyes wide open in oblivion

then he stammers on and on which causes me to worry

I awaken perplexed for a short time

then begin to comprehend that it was only a dream

after I gather myself, I maintain that my plan with the gentleman

has not changed

I shall remain in my cabin for three days

all meals shall be sent there

at dawn, I hope to walk the decks

Afternoon naps and read my book

I know this sounds awfully boring, yet it must be done

I sense this behavior of mine shall have some negative

influence on the gentleman in question

If, by chance, I encounter him I will turn quickly without a sound

If there is no knock on the door

then I shall know my scheme is effective

yet what shall I do if he, in fact, knocks on the door?

oh, this is so cruel, but I must not waiver

only four more days until we reach London

.

I love the story being written dear Betty. Feel like a Nevil Shute tale of love, dance and war. Your honest words make me want to know more. Thank you dear friend for sharing the outstanding poetry.

The unknown soldier, the knight in shining armor, the hero’s journey to the edge of life and love. Love in two ships passing in the night. Drowning in the sorrow of the impermanence love, joy, and happiness. It is true to life.

This is a rather very long series but it's more of a life-portrait. It's a warm blooded account of a very human and very womanly protagonist with whims and caprices that seem on this occasion to point towards a fiasco just ahead. Yet, who knows, the fiasco might just be averted. Happy story telling.

I think a serious case of Cabin Fever will ensue if she stays locked away for four days. Curiosity will eventually get the better of her and she’ll take to the deck to get some air and fate will definitely intervene. You are maintaining the level of suspense in this series and as reader’s we’ll await the following episodes and find out exactly how tough her resolve is. It’s an interesting premise that reminds me of some Agatha Christie, just without a murder.

A very descriptive dream sequence. Makes me wonder what happened in real life to the darling soldier. I loved a boy when I was a teenager. Harvey died in Viet Nam. I had a lot of dreams about him for a period of years.
