We Brought That StormA Poem by ZachGrayJust a poem I wrote due to my WW2 obsession. We brought the storm, 73,000 strong. We brought the storm, we made defenses fall. We were the ones, we fought for the just. We came for them, we fought full of pride. We sacrificed, nearly 2,500 gone. We were called to duty without a choice Yet we still stood tall. We stormed that beach, no, we brought that storm, And now the world will know us all. The cannons blew Bullets flew, I stood there with my men. I screamed to them “TO NORMANDY” Yet thousands met the end. We swam through seas blood red soaked Drinking the dead's bleeding yoke We cried our cries and shouted commands The gunners fell with limp hands. We placed the bombs in spots to reign in war We broke down every locked door. Men with flames walked above The trenches seems to protect us none But we can even over come this We totted guns and tasted blood We are the men of red white and blue No one can take that from us. So now my children’s young ones come to ask Did you storm that beach? No, we brought that storm. © 2011 ZachGray |
