Best Friends?

Best Friends?

A Poem by Thief Lord Alex
"

Kind of a rant about my best friend.

"

We’re supposed to be best friends
I’m supposed to be happy for her
I should be supportive of her

But I can’t stand them

They are her boyfriends
The things she dates
I can’t stand them
She’s such a s**t
Can’t keep a boyfriend
For more than a week

It’s not them,
It’s her
Something’s always wrong
And she kicks them to the curb

It’s gotten so bad
I don’t remember names
Or faces
Just that He is new

She used to tell me all about them
Now I couldn’t care less
Are we still best friends?

I mean, we still talk
We’re there for each other

Just not when it comes to her boyfriends
I told her to stop telling me about them
Cause every time she does
It makes me sick

They don’t really care about her
That much is obvious
It’s like she’s some kind of trophy
Cause They all want her
And They are all best friends

I should feel horrible
But honestly I don’t

She’s a s**t
No way around it
Her longest relationship
Last a month
And that’s if you don’t count
All the times they broke up

I should be supportive of her
I’m supposed to be happy for her
Cause we’re supposed to be best friends

This is a tough poem... I know exactly where you're coming from in this one... reminds me of my old friend... One thing is that she doesn't see what is going on... she's oblivious to the fact even if you tell her of it... You can see the mistakes she makes but she doesn't... This is a good piece it deals with a tough subject... Great job!

This is a tough one Tara, because you feel bad for your friend but you feel worse because you don't know what to say or how to react around her. This puts you in a tough spot, At sixteen, emotions on both sides can be very raw and some people are searching for love and companionship the only way they can.

You are different. You can see the mistakes she is making and feel helpless because you can't make her understand she is being used.

Your poem seems to tell me you are in two minds about this friendship. She is your friend, she is a s**t, are you afraid you will be tainted by her relationships or are you afraid she will be so badly hurt you won't know what to say or how to help her.

You are a good friend, Tara, you see her faults and even though you don't like them, your final verse gives hope.

I should be supportive of her
I'm supposed to be happy for her
Cause we're supposed to be best friends.

It is her life, and as a friend all you can do now, is be there for her when and if she needs you.

A good little rant letting all the feelings and enotions fly.
