Sleeveless

Sleeveless

A Poem by Jay Rose
"

Inspired by the phrase "to wear one's heart on one's sleeve".

"

I carry my
heart
on the pages I
write

I carry my
soul
on the verses I
ponder

As my
pain gives
way to writing

As my
tears form
rivulets of words:

Each more
daring
than the last

My sleeves are
full
with other wonders

So I go

sleeveless

And instead carry my
heart
within my pages

I like this! You have a new and different style of presenting your poems that I have yet to come across and I like it. After reading two other poems, I came to this one and it really spoke to me, and probably many others as writers. It's so true!

Another piece that clearly speaks to writers. Funny as I read this one, I considered an artist with full inked "sleeves," shoulders to wrists, proudly bearing his craft. Another beauty of poetry, the countless interpretations.
