Lonesome Shores

Lonesome Shores

A Poem by Jay Rose
"

Random little piece I wrote.

"

I washed up
a leper

On the island of the
diseased
which consists of only
me

The mainland lies
Lies
Lays far away

But that’s none of
my
business

My business
is watching

Waiting
Writing

Writing as I observe
my own self waste
away

on the mainland

I ghost
as I am too afraid

Afraid
to call out
Afraid

to say no

Because how can
one
person fight against the
tidal wave
that put them there
in the first place

So I observe
I wait
I cry

On my lonely
island

As I forge a boat
out of words

That will free me
when the time is
right
