Who Are You

Who are you the person we see or someone else?

Every day we walk into the building wearing it

 And every day we leave wearing it

We hide behind an image of ourselves

 The only one we are willing to show the world

But is that who we truly are

Are we the mask that we wear

Or the face that hides behind the mask

 In order to answer that question we must ask another

Who are we

The athlete who shows up to practice every day

Or are we the teenager who hangs out with our friends

Are we the student who has never missed a day of school

 Or the lead singer in a band

Is it the job we work that defines us

Or possibly the boyfriend we date

Are we the out of control shopper

Or the child our parents see

Who are we

Do we even really know

Are we our past

Or our future

The lies

Or the truths

So who is to say the person behind the fearless mask is really us

Maybe you are the mask you choice to wear

Perhaps you are the person beneath the mask

Who are you

The mask

 Or the face
