Darkness

Darkness

A Poem by Brinja Keelake

I don’t just write the darkness,

I let it in.

I let it fill me,

Seeping out of my mouth, ears, eyes.

It flows down my arms,

Controlling the words.

It invades my brain,

Scaring me with my own thoughts.

My mind is black.

Old memories I’d rather forget are brought to the surface,

My body fills with this disease.

I can feel its poisons running through my veins,

Weighing me down.

I don’t just write the darkness,

I let it take over me.
