Forever Friend

Forever Friend

A Poem by Brinja Keelake

She follows my footsteps
One by one,
And she’s with me wherever I go.
Sometimes she’s small and cute,
Hiding away,
While other times she is tall
And ready to be seen.
She does what I do,
Mimicking me throughout my day,
Never missing a motion.
Sometimes she conceals herself,
As I do from the sun,
But then she pops up and surprises me,
As if to say hello again.
She doesn’t talk,
She has no expressions,
But she always shares my mood.
She doesn’t know anything
And she’s paper thin,
But there is one thing I know for sure:
She’ll follow me forever.
