A Love Affair

A Love Affair

A Poem by Brinja Keelake

A slight smile,
Stolen from the wind,
As it passed from your lips to mine.

Our eyes meet,
Bridging the distance,
Since we cannot reach across.

A small sigh,
Lost in translation,
As it skipped between our souls.

You glance away,
Cheeks the color of ancient bricks,
Never to turn again.
