Lady DayA Poem by Brittany
Previous Version This is a previous version of Lady Day. Her brassy orchid voice sings of 1957 Autumn
Fog
blankets the roofs of dim-lit clubs all scotch and smoky
Honey sweat
Wild mad feet dance moon jazz dreams to New York piano
Cigars dangle from lips beneath chocolate fedoras tilted slightly, to
Shadow smoky eyes
ZOOT!
Lindy turns fast cheek to cheek
Mad foggy day scotch drinking wild
The voice of sweat and honey dripping over the roof-tops of a New York Autumn
Flumes and smoke curl around moon jazz lovers suspended slightly, by
Gospel wings
