Writing is My Refuge.

Writing is My Refuge.

A Poem by Bullet Soul
"

How has writing rescued you?

"

Across the world in Michigan, sits a lonely girl

Blood beneath her fingertips

As the knife cuts away, the pain she’s left behind

She longs to be, a different kind of girl

One who lives with love, as her weapon

But depression has stolen, every dream

Burden, her life has brought

To those who step near her

And allow her to get too close

But one day she starts, instead to write

Of faraway lands, that exist in her heart

To which she longs, to forever escape

Still some days, are cold and dark

Still some moments, steal her escape

But because of her hope, still she stands

She realized she has a friend, in herself

In the family who loves her, and holds her close

Her blade gave her scars, but they taught her love

Far away in Oregon, sits a burdened girl

Blood beneath her fingertips

As the knife cuts away, the pain she’s left behind

Waiting in her inbox, a message from a girl

Far away in Michigan

Who knows of another, faraway world

And so they escape together

They rescue themselves, from the blade

And instead hold a pen, in thankful hands

Connected by hope, and one cherished dream

A writer brings strength, when the world is in doubt

Writing brings refuge, for the lonely

Today I proudly stand, to admit that girl was me

The lonely girl, alone with the blade

That stole her every dream

But still I write away, the pain that stole my world

I write with the hope, that these words bring my refuge

And brighten my stars, that bring strength to my world

And repair the dreams, I never lost

Aw. I love how this has a happy ending. It makes me sad how people cut themselves, to try and take the pain away. I wish people realized there were easier ways to let out the pain. Whenever I get mad, the first thing I do is make threats, then pick up a pen. I love these lines

"Far away in Oregon, sits a burdened girl
Blood beneath her fingertips
As the knife cuts away, the pain she's left behind

Waiting in her inbox, a message from a girl
Far away in Michigan
Who knows of another, faraway world

And so they escape together
They rescue themselves, from the blade
And instead hold a pen, in thankful hands

Connected by hope, and one cherished dream
A writer brings strength, when the world is in doubt
Writing brings refuge, for the lonely"

i love this so much and feel like i can relate to it; i too have had incidents with cutting, but instead try to focus my emotions on writing. it really provides a haven when loneliness sets in, and it's a beautiful way to express even the most intense pain. keep writing :]
