Til Death We Part

Til Death We Part

A Poem by *~*Butterfly Kisses*~*
"

Inspired by a true love story that brought tears to my eyes.

"

In this hospital room,

Fit for you and for me.

Only so much time for us

Before in heaven we will be.

Reminiscing the life we shared

So much time we've spent together

From the day that we first met

Til our marriage, for worse or better.

A car crash sent us here,

As we continue holding hands

A love that lasted a lifetime

Stated with our wedding bands.

We've held on to each other

Through the thick and the thin

Beautiful memories

And the places we have been.

Now our time is growing short

On my monitor, beats your heart.

As we slowly start to fade away

In our promise, til death did we part.

Norma and Gordon Yeager, of Iowa were married for 72 years until a car crash put them in the hospital. They've always had a special love, always holding hands with one another. They recently passed away 1 hour apart from each other, still holding hands. Gordon passed away but his heart monitor still captured a beat through Norma who passed away shortly after. A sad story with a good ending. I'm glad the two went off to a better place together. Would be hard on the family. I bet they were kind and good people. Thank you for the story and the poem.

The effect of this piece is felt deep within this reader's brain. It was a greatly penned piece that I found flowed flawlessly. And the way it came to a end was nearly jaw dropping, at least for me it was. ^^*

Wow. What a sad, but beautiful story. I am inspired to live to the fullest. You somehow managed to capture a love that is beyond expression.

A great story....and an excellent write depicting it...
Wonderful use of rhyme which allowed the poem to flow without being forced. Nice rhythm, cadence and tempo...
Very romantic and loving
Hopefully what family or friends they had left, got a chance to read this.

Just reading it brought me almost to tears. You rarely hear stories like that..that after so many decades, love is still there...in the worst of times. As much as it is beautiful, its heartbreaking...and that is what's beautiful about it.
