Floating

Floating

A Poem by Erica Daubert

We're all just floating.

We're floating further...

No one stops to say hello,

no one cracks even the fakest smile.

No one knows each other.

...Anymore.

We live vicariously through astral planes,

parallel dimensions on a voyage

that never seems to end...

But you can't quite say it has began, either.

We just keep floating.

We continue on down these roads

of what we perceive as reality,

and what we perceive as the importance of

the "miracle" that is life.

We are zombies.

Floating zombies.

And if we smoke two joints in the morning,

if we smoke two more at night...

Are we even fooling ourselves anymore?

That, my friend, depends entirely

on how far you have floated on down the road.

A state of perpetual bliss can simply

not exist when the bright lights

send a wink your way.

We're oblivious to what could be real,

what's hiding in plain sight,

because we just keep floating.

We just keep floating.

The logic of this poem is true. Most of us don't see the problems. Waiting for a miracle. Miracle don't happen often. I hope the floaters come alive and assist in fixing the problems of this life. Thank you for a excellent poem.

So many people just want to trap themselves in a bubble of self created reality and block themselves from this. I thing this was the best and most appropriate use of the term zombies and we a certainly surrounded. Brilliant writing

I love this... I love the sublime "Two joints" variation stanza. I love the deeper meaning to this as well... there is less true feelings and way more masks... and not even masks... just empty faces... empty shells all around.

feeling out of control of your life and the analogy of floating is clever..sometimes the sheer nothingness of our existence can make us feel this way..time to rope yourself in..anchor that heart and feel again
