A Poem by Camryn Jeter

I'll never forget as long as I live
the deafening roar of the crowd around us;
the rhythmic, melodious chorous in unison l
and how in that moment, your off-key voice beside me
became my anthem. My memory will not fail me when
I try to recall how we laughs and fees weary when,
as it seemed to us, we trekked mile after mile,
or walking the streets of Atlanta at 11 P.M.
How could I not remember being a part of something
bigger than myself, or the smell of coffee
after a night with more bliss than sleep?
No, it doesn't matter if I'm with you 7 hours or 70 years.
Whenever you look at me,
my insides catch on fire and the heat bursts from my cheeks.
You will always be my flame.
Now, tell me, how could I forget?
