A Poem by Camryn Jeter

You always accused me
of my thoughts and fantasies
Bur he tells me his own
with a gentle and steady voice
His tongue lacking the blades
which infested yours
I don't run and hide from him
He is, rather, my refuge
And instead of making me fear him,
I can lay down my fears at his feet
strip myself of insecurities and
look him in the face shamelessly
with mine bare
because he looks at my naked soul and
thinks it is the most beautiful thing he's ever seen
And now, I feel safer unprotected in his presence
lacking my armor and all my walls
than I ever did with them in yours
After you, the impossible became possible
I conquered it all
and with his help
Rebuilt myself from nothing.
I am a new creature
I the Phoenix and we the flame.

third line...did you mean "But"?

i really like this poem so much...you capture the idea so well of being accepted for who we are...rising from the ashes of burnt self-esteem...the other isn't worth it if he wants to mold you into something you are not...but the latter finds you attractive as you are, outside and in...that makes for "we the flame."
