Once Again

Once again
we say goodbye
With tears unshed
hidden in our eyes

You come into my life
and then you leave
Memories drift away
on the summer breeze

I love you
more than words can say  
But there's no truth left
in the games we play

It's a tug of war
between head and heart
A battle of wills
that tears us apart

 

Oh how I wish
that you would stay
For one more moment
one more day

That we would finally surrender
into the arms of love
Let go of our fears
and learn to trust

But instead you turn
and walk  away
Leaving too many words
left to say

Unspoken promises
that slowly die
While pains reflection
dances In our eyes

And I try so hard
not to cry
As once again
we say goodbye

Sometimes tis harder to express what hurts deeply.. hurt isn't easily explained, too much involved, too many emotions and tangents in that one word 'hurt'. Seems to me you've flown away tho.. expressed how in part, and, maybe in doing that, you reached a place with some kind of a welcome. So hope so, you deserve it..

A couple of lessons I've learned on my journey through life:
Many times, wanting something is actually better than actually having it. That guy, or that girl, for instance, may be sweet to contemplate...but leave a bad after-taste...

Anything that can be easily lost...was not worth having in the first place.
Think about it.

I thoroughly enjoyed this poem! The structure and rhyme scheme is superb, and the rhythm is awesome. Not to mention the fact that I can relate to almost exactly what you're saying here, or at least how I interpret it. I love how it's somewhat ambiguous as well. It could be about death, and conversely it could be about love, or both. Impressive.

Goodbyes are never easy, especially if we know that its not the sort of goodbye that really means see you later, or better yet, I shall return to you. I think you do a good job of showing us what it feels like to be in the position where we have to let go, where the person we love leaves us with unsatisfactorily explanations, desires still blazing in our hearts. Good to read you again.

Goodbyes are so difficult, especially when they are said often to the ones we love. But this poem is touching because it's a love that is not being allowed to develop or bloom because of fear and mistrust. It makes me wonder how many times can we once again say goodbye... Excellent poem!
