Blind

Blind

A Poem by Excalibur
"

A blind man distances himself from all that surrounds him because he feels that his blindness distances himself from the world.

"

Blind

Locked in this silence
I beg to be amused
My senses are worn
My memories are buised

This voice remains mute
The world is dark and cold
Not a touch to be felt
Not a word to be told

Behind the mirror of my mind
I wonder can I ever be let out
Spared for the Elysian fields of the wounded
What are all my worries about?

It's a cube with four walls...
A top, and a bottom
From inside to out, I am free
Into a world I'm afraid I can't see

This gives me a little more understanding of my mom who was blind the last ten + years of her life..She was so different and angry at everything and everyone..Like the whole world was against her..She said it was her punishment for things she did when she was younger. I sometimes walk around my house of bathe and keep my eyes closed trying to understand how she felt..God bless..Valentine

It's interesting the anomaly that runs throughout your piece. I've always been told that when once sense fails, in this case sight, that the others become so much more sensitive to stimuli. Your speaker here, however, seems to be made even more vulnerable by the loss of this one sense. He struggles with muteness, insensitivity, and what very well could be deafness of metaphorical proportions.

Interesting read.
