Driftwood

Driftwood

A Poem by Excalibur

Drift Wood

With a mouth as wide as heaven
As far as the eyes can see
Stretched out far beyond a void
Lies the most beautiful aqua sea

A singular piece of driftwood
Floats aimlessly about this ocean
The smooth waves ripple around it
Majestic and surreal with each motion

On top the deep blue abyss
It is carried to parts unknown
Below remains unexplored for
Only the surface can be its home

As the texture changes, it ages so beautifully
Telling a grand story of many travels made
Weathered to the spine, it diminishes slowly
A color once rich now decides to fade

After some time, it graces the mighty shores
That soak up the waters in its sands
The driftwood, so scoured and worn
Arrives peacefully upon dry lands

The days of drifting look to be over
May this nomad of the sea rest well
But the jealous tides beckon again
And the driftwood returns…

Bound once more by the beautiful aqua’s spell

sometimes in life it seems like we are in an ocean like a piece of driftwood, isolated and alone, seems like we can never find a home, good write.
