Cold Reunion

Cold Reunion

A Poem by Excalibur

Bittersweet, like a sour apple
The tang, too fargone to taste
My mouth, was sabotaged by a kiss
All time thereafter was a waste

Years spent to forget you
Yet fate brings you by, my friend
A long time coming, the encounter
A future long after an end

It is so very bittersweet, dear apple
It has rotted down to the core
With an awful taste in my mouth
Back then I had cried for more

Tears do dry, even an ocean
And I'd survived for some time
I Requested you, neglected you
Detested you, who was never mine

Terribly sweet, and here we are
This reunion, and I'd come so far
Time has torn you down, I see
You're close even standing where you are

Once so cold was your gaze
Oh friend, we had said goodbye
Trembling memories fresh and of flesh
So the rain still makes me cry

We stand, and gesture, I lead the way
Semi-sweet, and oh so wrong
Still to forget your fading silhouette
Sour apples no longer turn me on
