wow john donne, ben johnson and dryden all romanticists, now friend i should not wonder where you get that romantic feelings when you write all these poems... i am happy that he is a part of the garden which means he has the chance to be nurtured and loved as well, every person's dream but some are not so lucky while others are lucky enough. Cheers to love... nice writing my friend as always

Cheers, back to you and thank you my friend for reading and the comment. I do appreciate.
I love everything you write, but most of all, I love it when you reveal some new style or thought process thru your words. This is one of those rare gems, quite a bit different from the others, & that's why I love it even more than I usually do all your writing. I love the "garden" themes & I love the new ways you are showing us that you adore & respect & memorialize the women you've known & loved (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

Thank you Margie. I like comparing nature to love.
it takes time and caring to plant, water, weed, nurture a garden ..i especially like how you bring the children into things ..certainly a rich part of a growing relationship ... now i have to go read some of the works of the poets you mention ;) taking time and allowing a natural course of things is the way to go ... i'm glad your speaker was ready to put down roots ;)) men can stay lost forever if they don't ... and tell ourselves its "freedom" ;} warm romantic read for me ..i can feel the warmth of the dirt and the smell of fresh good earth

Reminding the evergreen poets was the best thing you included! Loved the similarities between children and garden. That reminds on of my friend's quote " Poems are like babies, they need love"

Your writing always holds the most romantic vibes, John. Seems whatever garden you work on or play in, the memories made last forever more. Beautifully written, cultivated with a master's warmly appreciative hands"

Thank you dear friend. I appreciate your kind words.
Fine poets of their times, Dryden and Donne. I loved the thought of nurturing a garden like one's own child, the last line wonderfully sums the admiration you hold for her in your heart. I loved this poem.
