The fortunate one's

The fortunate one's

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

A Summer poem.

"
The fortunate one's
Lovely be, a day can be. When the sun kiss  your face and the lake is near.

The long Summer days, blessings for us who love the free wildflowers and the deep forest.

The fortunate one's, we are.

Who love reading books by the Lake St. Clair, the children laughter and free days.

I try to be like my grandparent. Take the grandchildren to the cider mill, field trips and long days at the lakes on the hot days.

My grandchildren favorite days. Mystery road trips, visiting the Lake Huron and Lake Superior. Roam the small towns in the thumb and finding shiny rocks for our rock garden.

I am a better grandfather than father. I learned too late. The children grow so quickly, like weeds in a yard.

I hope I taught my children, my grandchildren to love the water, be kind to the free animals. To roam the free forest and be kind to nature.

Be the fortunate one's.

I am so there, enjoying the feel of your summer and the way you described it brought my own summer by the lake when i was small and visiting Aunts and cousins. I brings to mind the pic of my mother by the lake side, I love this one coyote , it's so full of everything cherished.

Thank you dear Pat. I do agree my friend.
oh I missed your stories. This brought back fond memories of summers at the lake when I was young. Life is about learning no matter what our age says. We learn from our children and they from us. I haven’t had the fortune of being a grandparent yet but I can feel the joy it brings you as does ease of summer days at the lake. Beautiful sentiments in this write.

Thank you dear ladysue. I hope you are doing well and having fun.
This is so humble & honest & heartfelt! Startling & relatable details! I was just thinking last evening about how it's taken me until I'm 64 to start to understand this whole damn thing about living & being a better person & finding out who I really am & trying to be my authentic self. I think it takes everyone too long to figure this s**t out, so don't fret about being a better g-dad than dad! (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

This is what family is, learning from of and from each generation how to appreciate the All Around.
Your way of thinking, the honesty you hold in how to share is wonderful. Seems your life of not picking out the negatives in folk stems for the love and loyalty you've shared with your relatives, past and present, big and small, John. There must be quite a few who'd love to share the benefits of your way of being. Thank you!....

Books, laughter, free days.. what could be better when wrapped in love.

I often feel that with all the issues parents constantly face, the involvement of a caring grandparent is a very special gift

Thank you Dave. I appreciate the comment.

This is such a lovely/beautiful self disclosive almost confession like poem that touches on a prayer and clearly demonstrates, to me at least, that in life, you have learnt many things and have chosen to share many such insights and wonders with those you love and hold dear.... and in my eyes.. they are indeed the fortunate ones...

I am... hope you are too ..
Your children and grandchildren will appreciate you when they get older and have a chance to look back and see how fortunate they were to have you. You speak of good things not only in people but in nature.

Excellent writing, Coyote.
