A penny for your thoughts...

A penny for your thoughts...

A Poem by Coyote Poetry
"

Hanging with Nick Cave..

"
A penny for your thoughts...
1- Once a pretty Michigan girl told me.
A penny for your thoughts,
thank you for remembering my name,
thank you for holding my hands and
thank you for showing me.
I am not alone.
2- I was trying to push away the lonely night.
I asked the dark night to take away my thoughts of you.
Please Gentleman Jack steal away her beautiful face,
please Gentleman Jack allow me to forget her kind and gentle voice.
Please allow me to know the silence of nothingness.
3- I held the Gentleman Jack whiskey and I remembered the taste of her neck,
I remembered her morning beautiful smile.
And I remembered, we knew love kindness.
We loved our coffee mornings together and our light conversations.
We loved our sea-side walks and she knew.
Love was precious, love was rare.
Tonight I drink the Gentleman Jack and I told the ghosts in the bar mirror.
She knew love is all we have and she made every second sweet and wonderful.
I believe she knew. I would need these memories when the darkness of life,
would steal away my kindness, my soul.

I've read a few of your selections and they always present a raw and honest passion. I can't help but feel a sling of Western drama to them, I don't know why! Maybe it's your pen name or your photo, (or lines like Gentlemen Jack or "Ghosts in the bar mirror") ;p enjoyed this.

When life gets lonely and dark we cling to the beautiful memories we have made in our life over the years. The love the kindness and strength others have given and shown to us without hesitation.

These memories sound truly loving and beautiful. Gentle and sweet filled with morning coffee and the sea. Honestly and authentic penned as always. Great write my dear friend Coyote

That it does my friend
A very deep and well written piece... The memories of her should survive with or without "Gentleman Jack". I fully understand what inspired this... Great job...

Thank you Rod. I agree. Some faces and memories we cannot forget.
And...you remembered all the best parts of her....love and kindness are hard to forget... this is a beautiful story...and what probably makes even better is the Jack Daniel, many of them which soothed your mind and your soul..."love was precious, love was rare"....and sometimes it's best to know "the silence of nothingness...
Well written and very smooth lie Jack Daniel
