Voices and Drugs

Voices and Drugs

A Chapter by Ceuthonymus

This pain is too real
As the doctors move my
Unwilling body from bed to bed
The nurses having been rushed out
As they begin to be filled with fear
Filling their chalices of life
With inky darkness that
Flows freely out of the void that
Expands from the confines of what
Was once a heart.
The men bring out the straps
Tethering me down
Restraining myself for their safety
Rather than my own
As they extend my unflinching arm
As one pulls out the filthy needle
From which the drugs erupt out of
And enter my own being
Enter the emptiness.
Oh, I crave this
I need this
I need this release
So the clear liquid mixes
With the red and black
That pump through my veins
My pupils grow
And I hear the voices
Of the past patients
Echoing down the corridor
Screaming in pain
Begging for release
But only I am free tonight
As my laughter ensues
The doctors fear grows
Spreading like wildfire
Burning us all down to the gates of hell.
