Intricate Sea of Blame

Intricate Sea of Blame

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

Can you not come back from where you hide...............

"

Can you not come back from where you hide, do you even know

Up from the ashes where your fire once glowed
Do you see the hunters as they search for the flame
There among what is perfectly resting
In an intricate sea of blame

You ask me if the coast is clear while looking over my shoulder
And I wonder if you are trapped in an ancient painting
That holds no answer and amounts to nothing the same
As what will come tomorrow or today
In your dreams awaiting

In the morning, will you be curious when you hear the sound
Of faces growing old and emerging silver-tongued
Will your ears think all daylight has gone when they sing
Of golden pleasures that came round
When you were young

Can you not come back from where you hide, let sorrow be
Feel your heart travel outside of confusion
Forget about the hunters that search for the flame
That intricate sea of blame is merely
A manifested illusion

I love the way you use art and nature in your poems, the use of colour and precious metal in the third verse really adds to the richness of the imagery and the last line is just sensational. I love how your work so often seems to directly engage the reader, that makes the poetry even more intense and poignant. You're always a delight to read.

There are times when we're lost in mind-space, trying to find our way through a maze of complete bewilderment and uttery alone-ness, neither looking back nor looking forward. If not careful, that's where we stay; some search, find excuses, find crutches and move on, others turn their backs and make believe.

Not sure if that's what you mean, but it's how I see what I see.

Yummy stuff. For a moment I was not of this earth and time. I was transported to another life far away. My friend was calling out across a wide barren field. The soil was a strange color but my friend's voice was comforting. She made me want to try again though I was certain I was lost. Is it strange to have such a vision when reading your words? I think not.

Another diferent feel from you Neva, not quite the flow as usual, but some wonderful imagery

Of faces growing old and emerging silver-tongued
