Pink Satin Roses

Pink Satin Roses

A Poem by Neva Flores Smith - Changefulstorm
"

She will not be forgiving his sins, when we place them, on the foot, of her grave........

"

He thought pink satin roses held the gold on her hand

Dried all the tears from her eyes
Reminded her of kisses, erased the force of his hand
Made amends, for all of his lies

For years, we all watched the light dying in her eyes
He thought roses put the glow back in
Reminded her of whispers and soft midnight sighs
Brought him forgiveness, and her love again

Completely shattered and bruised, outside and in
She accepted each rose he displayed
Knowing he never knew, the damage carried within
The heart, he had broken and played

Tonight, he brought home pink satin roses once again
The gold band on her hand to save
However, this time, she will not be forgiving his sins
When we place them, on the foot, of her grave

This poem explains so many people's relationships. There's a selfishness in this poem that portray's a lot of individuals relationships. I agree with Teri B's review. Its sad that she couldn't communicate what was hurting her but it's worse for him because he didn't bother to notice or care what he was doing to hurt her. Another great write Neva. This one is also going on my list of favorites.

We must be careful of our actions for sometimes the consequences are extreme and their is no way to undo the damage. A shocking ending that carries a powerful message.

OK. So it's sad. Should all poetry be hearts flowers and butterflies? You handled it with skill, craftsmanship and the tactility of a spider in her web, spinning silk. Stunning.

This Poem is very sad,but at the same time it is also beautiful as well as truthful. Sad,and truthful because it speaks of abuse and how it affects the one being abused. Beautiful because the Author obviously has a kind heart. All the Stanzas have something to say to the reader, but the fourth Stanza really gets the point across

Tonight, he brought home pink satin roses once again
The gold band on her hand to save
However, this time, she will not be forgiving his sins
When we place them on the foot,of her grave
