Midnight Snack

Midnight Snack

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

Midnight ride

"

Ears penned tight and no gather in her stride

She charges onward here in the dark.

No interest in safety eye straight ahead

Focused on her destination she paces with the wind.

15 hands of buttermilk and brown her nostrils are flaring

as she’s shadowed in the dark.  Her mane is wildly tussled

her tail proclaims her intend

as she stops at her dinner bucket for a moonlight snack.
