ReprieveA Poem by Cherrie Palmercomposing
Yes
I know she sings the loudest, when riding in the car
and
laughs the loudest in the busy crowd;
but
her sense of voice she has lost.
Her
words of rhyme cannot be found.
Misery
a slim companion is hiding from all
the
page that remains empty from months of none attendance.
Is
grieving its own appearance.
Hiding
in yellows, flaming to all others, she is blaming.
Till
a far "off melody soft and low in her mind, words begin composing
and
the page weeps of reprieve, as it is filled to the brink.
They
that knew her well found, they knew her not.
As
words of truth and beauty were set to the sweetest of melodies
and
she bid her fair-weathered friends farewell.
