Blue Birds Sing

Blue Birds Sing

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

poem

"

The morning sun warms the sky

As blue birds sing to heavens high

They sing of hope laced with love

And gaze upon the rising sun

The evenings move our minds retrace

As a tender longing helps us wake

Lately the birds have been singing up a storm in the early morning, even before sunup. Along with a good cup of coffee, there's nothing better.

I love the picture portrayed here. Especially in the first 4 lines.
I am a little confused, however, as to why in the last line `a tender longing helps us wake' - am I missing something? It seems like a lovely stroll through the day hinted at in line 5 so why are we then only just waking? - oh now I realise is it a dream?? . . Sorry a bit slow!

Delightful little verse. Reminds me of summer walks with my wife.

In this world that is literally growing colder every day, I needed a warm, spring-like write! Thank you for sharing such a beautiful day in birdsong...
