A Fine Spring Day

A Fine Spring Day

A Poem by Cherrie Palmer
"

a fine spring day to ride the fence

This is a previous version of A Fine Spring Day.

With curtains drawn, I did not see the change of color that lay’s before me.

My thoughts blocked by my inner-ear, so I did not notice the love birds sing.

I did not know, nor did I see the beautiful gift that is now spring.

But with my hat hung low and boots pulled tight

I prepared my day on the fence.

With waters flowing clear and cool and clover cropping up the hill

Bunnies nibble here and there breathing in the morning air.

Scented heavy and oh so sweet honeysuckle cannot be veiled.

Flowers of red and buds of yellow line the steps for me to follow.

Sun so bright warms my skin as the northeast breeze tempers the day.

Hummingbird’s click as they sing by the trumpeting petals colored bright.

And I spy the lowering sun, blazing colors across my path.

Translucent blue fades to smoke and lavender forms fill the night,

While fireworks of mauve coat the sky.

I return to my door with hat in hand  I spent a full day  working the land

And happy that I enjoyed such a fine spring day.

Wow! You paint a wonderful picture of a 'fine springs day', Your imagery in the piece is different gravy [ English saying meaning different class!!! ], and the rhyme and flow got better and better. Very impressive work. Loved reading your profile too, you seem a really nice lady and surely lying about your age!!!! How about try 36?!!!!!
Take care, Chris.

Cherrie,
this isn't good poetry....It's Great poetry...My Goodness..it's as if i was there toting the bale and sowing the field. I'm not trying to be cute, but I felt like I was in a "Lassie" rerun...I could picture every line in my mind and saw what you must see everyday
Graphically beautiful and vivid images. Seriously, a wonderful write.

One critique and I'm 95% sure...maybe someone else can confirm...
"lay's" i think should be lies (or even lain or laid)...if lay IS correct than it should be lays...but I think it's lies...whew!

I'd gladly suffer a few saddle sores to experience a ride like that. You've made me really want to get out of this house. A terrific, soothing write, Cherrie.
