Ones Own Deception

Ones Own Deception

A Poem by Sheri Lynn

An empty blank look appears to conceal her yearning aching heart
As time moves forward and her heart agonizes for his touch
Hunger for the unconditional love and touch of someone beyond her reach
Memories of his words destroyed her mentality and emotionally
Torment as his words ran through her mind over and over again
The world believed her to be pleased and content with life
Yet her heart tortured her as she watched him be with another
A journey had begun to hate and forget all that he meant to her
As devastation would eat her alive unless she could stop feeling
Time slowly passed as her heart hardened becoming numb
Memories of love slowly forgotten never to be found or felt again
Consequences were not important only to feel something, anything
An endless quest to find the touch that she would never uncover
Quickly her feelings of loneliness consumed her body and soul
Then unforeseen attention leads her down the wrong path
Things done that can not be undone or wished away
Realization of her action, tear her to pieces causing endless pain
Looking into the mirror only to hate the person looking back
Devastation takes over as actions could not be wished away
Deception tearing apart the significance in her own beliefs
Exposing her weakness giving in to betrayal of the highest
Time passes only to dull the spirit damaging the heart further
Innocent flirtation with the man she thought so no longer loved
An unexpected rekindled bliss swept her away to feel passion again
A moment in time changed her soul forever as she realized her soul mate
Within seconds a look and touch flooded her with emotion
Emotion she thought she had lost and forgotten as her heart was numb
Awareness hits that love for this man had never stopped
All attempts at forgetting what she felt for him were for nothing
She never wanted anyone more than for him to be with her now
Her worst fear emerged as she wanted to be with him till her last breathe
He still had a hold of her heart and all that she had in her soul
She couldn’t go back nor could she go forward
She had to reveal her betrayal so he knew of her deception
Guilty she was and has agonized over her own wrong doing
Ripping the heart exposing the destruction of values further
She will hold dear the moments that made her come alive again
She would never feel alive again but would move forward without him
One’s Own Deception cast a spell over her own true loves happiness
