Moment of Despair

Moment of Despair

A Poem by Sheri Lynn

Snow drifts softly to the ground leaving a white-layered landscape
Untouched and unspoiled it lays and twinkles in the lamp lights
Contentment not found in its beauty, sadness controls all thoughts
Final moments playing over in her mind as tears form in her eyes
His eyes revealed the sadness his own actions had brought about
Looking in her heart hunting for words to explain her own feelings
Nothing comes out except the words felt due to sorrow and agony
Sharpness and the sting of her own pain escapes from her lips
Sending the only man she has ever loved away so she could hide
Her heart deceived her, as she believed that he was the only one
The only one she would ever love and may ever love again
Strong I must be, he cannot see the tears or torture so deeply felt
Deception, broken promises overwhelm her conscience thoughts
Concentration is nonexistent, as she cannot get him off her mind
Her loss of her best friend whom she would have cherished forever
Overcome with sadness as the reality of his words play endlessly
Loneliness creeps in only to fill the void of his loss with regret
Her dream of spending her life with him was coming to an end
She will not be his wife, his true love, his forever, his eternity
Was it worth it, will he walk away or fight for his own heart’s happiness
Wiping away the tears she is drawn back to the beauty of the snow
Her hopes of happiness may never enter her life without him
This path keeps leading her back to him only to deny her own heart
Her tears flow watching the snowfall in her moment of despair
