Age

Age

A Poem by Emma Grace Tennyson
"

I wrote this about two years ago. It was inspired by my grandmother.

"

It's been said that beauty

Is in the eye of the beholder
Some may say that beauty fades
The longer we get older

The past is locked in picture frames
While the body ages
Memories: forgotten, as are names
All minds decay in stages

But I see through the outer shell
Into what really matters
The heart, the soul, a past of love
A welcome sound of laughter

So do not judge external shape
Or the guise in which one looks
As is told in well-known phrase
Relating covers to their books

This is awesome. So many people judge others based on their looks, and even bully them. I like that someone wrote about this subject. While we may be beautiful now, in 40 years that will probably change, and what will really matter is personality and memories. Great job!

have always felt it is what is inside that counts--and age is merely a state of mind...and for some of us mind over matter matters more.

She actually died recently. I wrote it as she was declining. Thank you so much.
