State of Affairs

State of Affairs

A Poem by Cobblestone Traveler
"

Perception and reality are two very different things.

"

Push, throw, kick

Stay away from the one place you'd be held

Smack, kick, punch

Don't give me the time of day, just as well

You never intended to love me, why start now

Rip, tear, crack

Why did I have a drop of hope for care

Scratch, claw, cut

You could have had a hand through your hair

You never intended to be near me, why start now

S**t! I dug this grave

I'm programmed to crave

You never gave me a chamber of your heart

But I pictured one there from the start

I open my own stitches.

Love can hurt
But would one ever learn If it's real
If pain wasn't felt at times of longing

I like your raw definition of that moment of wishing that person was near
