everybody lives forever somewhere

everybody lives forever somewhere

A Poem by Daniel Atkinson
"

this is where you'll find me.

"
you'll find me in the morning,
not quite drunk,
kinda swaying in the bed of my pickup.
with a half-empty, half-full bottle of jack
held in my earth-dusted hand,
i'll be drinking the sunrise away
like it's something to strive for.
maybe i'll be hoping you'll find me
whenever i decide to disappear,
but i guess everybody lives forever somewhere.

Daniel Atkinson
I kinda pictured the character Sawyer from Lost narrating this.

One might usually find this scene to be one of an unhappy man, but it's gives a sense of calm the makes me think that the drunkenness is a pleasant one. Like his liver wont be affected by the Jack.

Few grammar issue with capital "I's" and Kinda is "Kind of" other then that your writing was perfect and short and sweet. Nice way of thinking of thing. Creative and inventive. Well done and keep up the excellent work.

I like this poem... It stirs in me conflicting feelings... I should be depressed but the guy is so accepting of where he's at and the imagery is beautiful... I just don't know ha ha Great Job!

The title's gorgeous :) This is tragedy-calm, and reminded me very much of Kerouac.

I really love this poem! Its tone is perfect for the narrator--very relaxed. The last line ties everything together and to me, this seems to make the point that everyone has a different idea of happiness and how to find it.

Has another reviewer eluded it has a drunken-dizzying-journey feel to it. The stand out parts for me are 'i'll be drinking the sunrise away like it's something to strive for' and 'maybe i'll be hoping you'll find me whenever i decide to disappear, but i guess everybody lives forever somewhere.' A interesting and thought provoking piece that makes me picture the likes of Henry Miller, William Burroughs. Allen Ginsberg and Charles Bukowski drinking, smoking and debating the night away, forever somewhere in writer heaven.
