90s Kids

A Poem by Cole Hayley

                            90’S KIDS

Bless up.

   A second helping of our childhood,

   So good at adulting;

   Skillfully,

   We squeeze Mario Kart into

   Impressions of our parents;

   Cooked dinners and volunteer meetings,

   Yogurt tubes and first thanksgivings

        Away from home, structuring traditions,

   Slowly picturing a cradle in the

   Corner of the bedroom, thinking about

   That responsibility in gradual chunks;

   We become our mothers in obvious ways.
