Home sweet not home

Home sweet not home

A Chapter by Connie B

"Hello, I'm Annie....your new foster mother...."
"Your not my mummy." The small blonde girl said simply she stared at Annie with cold piercing eyes. "Yes I see that....but I'm going to look after you, for awhile anyway," Annie spoke softly not wanting to make Lilith's mood any worse. They we're stood near Annie's car because Lilith refused to get in with her.
"Do you have any pets?" The child asked simply
Confused at the random question Annie answered her,
"No, I don't..."
"Good." Lilith said coldly, then stepping into the car.

It was a long drive home, neither of them spoke as the radio in the car played softly in the background.
"So Lilith, do you like chicken? I could make it for dinner if you like?"
No reply.
"Lilith?"
Annie turned her head to see she had fell asleep against the window softly little snores abrupted from her, Annie smiled then sighed as she pulled into her driveway.
Annie jumped out of her side of the car and made her way to Lilith's side, opening the door and gently going to pick her up. But she awoke with a start,
"Do NOT touch me!" Lilith spat pulling away from her.
"I'm sorry it's just you we're sleeping and-"
"You do NOT touch me. Ever." The child scrambled out of the car and ran to the houses front door.
Lilith was not what Annie would expect her to be, she was deffently not the little angel everyone described.

Inside, Annie tried to make small talk with Lilith asking simple questions like,
'What we're your mom and dad like?'
'Whats your favourite colour?'
'Do you have any friends?'
But to every question she asked she got no answer except a cold glare.
In the end she gave up and tried a different approach.
"I'm sorry about your parents Lilith...".Annie said quietly "They we're good people,"
Lilith just stared at the floor in what looked like thought and she finally after a few minutes of silence looked up from the floor to meet Annie's gaze, she smiled softly at her then leaned slightly forward towards Annie.
"You didn't know them that well then, did you." Lilith spat bitterly her smile turning into a frown of hate. Annie was taken aback from what she said and looked at her with shock. Lilith got up from her place on the couch,
"I want to go bed." She looked at the wall with a now blank unreadable expression.
