Winter's War

Winter's War

A Poem by Shading Fate
"

Cleave form. Left side can be read as one poem, right side can be read as one poem, together they can be read as one poem. I chose not to capitalize because of the format.

"
specks of white sting her face  /  during winter's restless storm
consuming all she used to be  /  underneath cold blue sky
while longing for spring's embrace  /  the sun fails to keep her warm
her heart floods with misery  /  and now she's left alone to cry

screams get lost inside her chest  /  the whipping wind is all that speaks
what hope she has begins to pass  /  as pain chews away her might
how can this beauty get some rest  /    comfort has been gone for weeks
her bed is shared with lifeless grass  /  but she will not give up the fight

Then one cold December day  /  soul's flame blossomed like a flower
she felt the courage rising fast  /  fueling her will to survive
strength soon melted tears away  /  so once the pain had lost its power
and freedom had been found at last  /  her colored petals came alive
