[Fear]

[Fear]

A Poem by Shading Fate
"

Child sexual abuse-personal experience

"
Buried beneath blankets and impending doom,
these eyes remain focused on the base of my door.
I catch the hall light sneaking into my room,
and watch as it kisses the carpeted floor.

Taxi plays loud on his old black and white,
driving DeVito's voice through my head.
I lay there alone, in fear of the night,
knowing what evils will come to my bed.

My brothers are lucky for he leaves them to dream,
they aren't forced to feel the weight of his hands.
With the threats that he made, I don't dare to scream.
Instead, I'll succumb to his lustful demands.

His semen stains my pink fitted sheet
while I cry on the inside where no one can hear.
My four-year-old body, now bloody and beat
will be hidden by clothes 'til the wounds disappear.

The smell of stale cigarettes and Old Spice Cologne
steals away breath that I fight to regain.
It still lingers now, even though I'm full grown,
because my heart remembers the pain.
