COEXISTENCE

COEXISTENCE

A Poem by The Daisy
"

Living with the other

"
Like light and shade...
sucked in an eddying universe of mystique,
dwindled together for the other by Fate,
     are we.

Like right and left...
paving for the very cause they choose,
dwindled together for the other by Fate,
     are we.

Like water and fire...
     quenching and burning humanity's thirsts,
dwindled together for the other by Fate,
     are we.

By Fate, we are each others'
     light and shade,
     right and left,
     water and fire.

This is a beautiful expression of how one part of Reality defines another part of Reality. Another duality like water and fire would be order and chaos. But for chaos, how would be understand order? But for chaos how would we fall upon order through trial and error serendipity? Plus and minus is another. I liked the ordering of words within your verses.

That's grand take on it, Aethereal. Indeed, the other wouldn't exist without the other. Thank you.

i like the use of antithesis to represent the philosophy of ying and yang if you ask me :) shades of a equlibrium my friend everything must have a means and an end the laws of causality :)

Really interesting piece with multi-level subtext (to me anyway). I, as the others that have commented really enjoyed this, but personally I would have a slightly different final stanza:

Dwindled together, we are each other's
light and shade,
right and left,
water and fire...

By fate, are we.

Just seems more true to the pattern in my mind and has a stronger climax. I think without the final "by fate, are we" you could leave some people feeling deflated, like an anti-climax having trailed off towards the end and weakening the impact.

Thank you, Rose. :) Means a lot really.
Nice presentation of conflict on existence. Though each one is the opposite of the other, one cannot be itself without the other.

Nice piece. Keep it up! Welcome to the group!
