Through the Eyes of a Child

Through the Eyes of a Child

A Poem by Tasha
"

I wrote this after watching a special on child abuse.

"
" Quit yelling and screaming,
I hate seeing the two of you argue "
see my point of view,
through the eyes of a child
" Don't call each other names,
and don't you dare hit her, "
you see what I'm going through?
through the eyes of a child
no two people should fuss and fight
like that.... if you truly love each other
I know I shouldn't have a say,
but through the eyes of a child
I want to protect mommy,
because I don't want her to get hurt
I love her too much...
yeah, this is the life.....
through the eyes of a child

Great piece of heart wrenching work. I have a good respect for this type of writing, or at least the theme.
Everyone always says how horrid it is for children that have to go through this, and it is so true. They just usually don't understand how many children have to go through it. Hundreds, thousands...
It's the horrid truth of reality.

this is soul touching...you write in a very honest way, though not child like, it chows the emotions of a little one terrified...good job.

As American as apple pie and baseball, I fear, Ta'shandra. Well-captured.

Sad but brilliant poem that gives the other side of childhood.. the unspoken side that many prefer to hide and yet here it is.. raw and painful and out in the open. Excellent poem.

This is a heartachingly sad look at a side of a childhood that you would hope that not many children see.

This is the side you want them to see....

"Tickle me Daddy and make me smile,
just like you do to Mummy
when you wrap your arms around her"
I'm watching it all through the eyes of a child

Bravo to you for articulating the side that is often left unspoken but is no less true....

Oh,children are almost the passive sufferers of domestic abuse, leaving forever utterly scarred and bruised lives. This piece is extremely touching and poignant.

the use of the repetition of the words 'eyes of a child' pushes the meaning of the words even further, and you have created a really powerful piece. This made tears prickle in my eyes while reading it - well done!
