Rock Hibiscus

Rock Hibiscus

A Poem by Desert Dreamer
"

if I were a flower

"

If I were a flower, I'd be found out in the desert hills
in places rarely travelled to.
I'd blend in with the rocks and sand
you would miss me if you walked by
except for the season when I flower
and then I'll dazzle you with pink flowers,
like a Desert Hibiscus.

If you tried to grow me in your garden
my roots would rot and I'd fade away,
but give me dry desert rocky hills
and I'll thrive and share my blossoms
with all who dare to walk these rocky paths.
Call me Paleface or denudatus,
the Hibiscus who grows in the rocks.

There's a place for every plant and every human being .. it just needs care, observation. awareness, patience and just a little self-love .. seems you're content with what and who you are .. and if and when you want to fill the air with scent, you do it, you share ..

This is an absolutely stunning write. Perhaps I think so because I would probably be such a flower too. I find the potential of undisturbed solitude to be enticing. That is where I would flower too.

So beautifully flowing, there is a wildness here... a longing for freedom and light... I have hiked the high country of the Sierras and seen fields of wildflowers breaking through the ice in July... They are hope and courage.. as are your words..

I agree with Chloe.. and the image of the beauty that thrusts out of the desert dryness... showing all for a season and then withdrawing, is strong and satisfying. A well constructed poem that is enjoyable to read...

It is almost amazing how these flowers thrive in such climates.
I think there is a place for everything and everyone.
This poem reminds me of you, though you are friendly and outgoing you like your privacy ... but when you want to you shine within your comments and reviews and always your poems of Nature . The petals looks so delicate, paper thin.
If this flower could talk it would say, thank you.
