Broken Mirror: Reflection on a Fractured Image

Broken Mirror: Reflection on a Fractured Image

A Poem by Devin Mitchell Durbin

Its getting cold outside
its biting like a knife
flush up to the skin.
Pull the alarm
scream to the sky
this is the anthem
and its ringing loud
obnoxious momentary unity.
We find ourselves in the mirror
staring back at ourselves.

I find myself
staring straight into the mirror
through the broken tendrils
stretched across the placid
surface
I find myself shattered
wondering what my purpose is
and what I can do;
because sometimes I forget
to have faith in my own abilities
that were given to me.
