The Ingenue

The Ingenue

A Chapter by Dina
"

Prologue: The vision is to capture the essence of the girl who struggles to step into womanhood. The white swan. The girl who was coddled. The sheltered and the innocent.

"
Met a guy last summer

I gave him my number

Hid it from my mother

Cause I do not want her worrying

I start school September

I am smarter and better

But my heart’s very heavy

Cause the love i’m seeking isn’t near

There a reason why it isn’t quite here yet?

(Well)

What use is innocence

If it’s only turns me into young wife?

I keep envisioning

All of the quests from my past life

I see a chest and take a peek inside

Sense of adventure

Now I feel alive

I wanna fly

But I’m a bit too shy

For that

I take some time to map

The path of least resistance

I am am meek, submissive

But so weak, I can feel it

One day I’ll learn to stand on my own two feet

No compromising

No defeat

Saying just what I mean

Maybe then I can sing something deep

Something that’s real

Something people can feel
