On The Outside ღ KKD ღ

A Poem by Donna DeLong Matthews aka Gold Pen Ghost

On The Outside
Looking In

Oh the cutting words
that ripped thru my heart
from one who was different
at our very start

The ocean of tears
I have alone wept
The oh so many nights
never slept

The troubles
to my self kept
The silence
I had to accept

The giving
without receipt.
With our beginning
not to repeat

The you I so dearly love ...
Where is it that you did go
You leave my heart in shreds
weeping as a delicate willow

You took all I have
I gave all there was
Yet you shelf me
like a useless vause

I'm but a puppet
dangling by a thin thread
with a heart that is now
all but dead

I'm expected to catch
the occasional crumbs of love
My emotions are caged
like a lonely white dove

My wings you wish to bind
and be kept at my side
My hurt feelings lay silent
that I am forced to hide

The stresses of life
we all must cope
Drawing loved ones near
gives strength and hope

The door that was slammed
separating you within
While I'm left on the outside
just looking in

I am reading this, and liked several lines, beautiful was this "You took all I have / I gave all there was " --for it says so much, amazing. And this "I'm expected to catch
the occasional crumbs of love " -----this is also such a successful way to express the deep sadness, how one is fed by the minimum of feeling what was left .... So difficult write sad poetry, you did it well. Thank you. Gandr

A very sad write, no one can hurt you like the one you love
I could never understand fighting and slamming of doors in a relationship
If two people really love each other, what is there to fight about
Some try to change you, but they fell in love with you the way you were
Could never figure that one out either
Well they say live and learn
Although I don't seem to be getting any wiser LOL
Nicely written Ray { Not a Poet }
