Silent Screams

Silent Screams

A Poem by Mak(ayla:)

Snuggled under my covers
I fight the urge to sleep.
For several nights I have tossed and turned,
and would wake like a zombie.
I must rest,
But I know what's waiting for me.

I just lay there,
Staring at my clock
The bright red numbers
burn my eyes,
In the darkness of my room.

My eyes are growing heavy,
And the start to tease.
They laugh and say,
"Look, Makayla.
It's getting awfully late."

As I fall under their spell,
I hear the tainted laughter.
Screams start to shrill
in my ears,
And I jolt up in bed,
Mouth open wide,
But now sound coming out,
And sweat streaming down my face

beautifully write the pain of night which we always feel and passed that night with open eyes.
well done dear poet and thanks for sharing you view.

This was interesting and I could really relate. I normally wake up feeling more and more like a zombie and that every day feels like just another dream, just pushing on by. I can't seem to understand what's real anymore. The clock always tries to remind us what time it is and that we should go to bed on time, yet our minds don't always let us obey that.

I can relate to your realistic write.
These lines are stunning.
"My eyes are growing heavy,
And the start to tease.
They laugh and say,
"Look, Makayla.
It's getting awfully late." "

About
I'm Makayla, but I prefer Mak. I haven't been on here in a long time. I've changed quite a bit, but I'm only growing wise. So, please read my work if you'd like. I'd love to see what you thin.. more..
